Dr. Dominiqua M. Griffin,

Founder and CEO

Our founder works full-time at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow. She previously worked in the U.S. Senate as a Legislative Fellow, focusing on health and education legislation for Senator Chris Coons. She was an Assistant Professor at California State University, Fresno, where her award-winning research focused on school counseling, multiculturalism, and international education to advance school counseling systems domestically and internationally. She earned a Dual-Title Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision & Comparative and International Education from the Pennsylvania State University, her M.Ed. from Howard University, and her B.A. from SUNY University at Buffalo. Dr. Yvette M. Holmes, VP of Operations and Strategic Planning

Dr. Yvette M. Holmes is a business professional and passionate entrepreneur who has distinguished herself as an innovative scholar, accomplished professor, insightful business advisor, wellness coach and dedicated community leader. As the Vice President of Operations & Strategic Planning, Dr. Yvette offers strategic vision to assist Black Women PhDs in meeting its organizational goals by creating measures to monitor, analyze, and improve business processes. Connect with Dr. Yvette at DrYvetteMaureen.com

Dr. Phylicia Taylor, VP of Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development for Black Women PhDs, Dr. Phylicia Taylor leads in the planning and execution of strategies to increase company growth. Working alongside the CEO and VP of Operations & Strategic Planning, she also helps design efficient methods to evaluate program performance and execute company marketing plans. Additionally, she oversees the formation of business partnerships and contracts and works to implement new innovative ideas and tools to help propel the company’s mission and vision. Currently, Dr. Taylor serves as an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business and Industry at Florida A & M University in the Marketing & Management department. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Jackson State University and received her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida A & M University.


Dr. Indira Turney, Membership & Engagement Coordinator

Dr. Indira Turney is originally from Dominica, West Indies. She moved to St. Croix where she completed high school and later earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix Campus. She then moved to the US mainland to pursue her Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Turney is now a neuroscientist at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Her current research aims to identify life-course sociocultural and structural mechanisms that underlie disparities in brain aging. Her ultimate goal is to understand how racism becomes embedded in the body and brain and, as a result, affects health.

Dr. A. Dominique Williams, Lead Global Ambassador

Dr. A. Dominique Williams works at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Research: Higher Education Administration from Louisiana State University. She self-published a book, “Broke Girlz Travel Too” during her first semester, and she successfully published the 2nd edition entitled “Alwayz Traveling” while finishing her dissertation entitled “A Case Study on Alternative Spring Break: Supporting Black Women at an HBCU.” In her current role, she has been awarded for her creative and engaging programming and student-centered approach to diversity and inclusion. Cheyenne Cunningham, Virtual Media Intern

Cheyenne Cunningham is from the Bronx, NY but resides in Connecticut. She is a freshman at the University of Bridgeport, where she majors in Pre-Nursing. Cheyenne is very involved in her community, having participated in back-to-school drives with her church, and at women & children shelters. She has assisted at a women’s shelter where the women managed drug addictions and domestic violence. Cheyenne is also currently employed part-time in customer service. In her capacity, as the Black Women PhDs Virtual Media Intern, she maintains the website, administrative tasks, and featured profiles.
